New SBTi resources for the power sector
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has added a 1.5°C- aligned pathway for the power sector, which provides electric utilities with the option of submitting 1.5°C- aligned targets for official recognition. Led by CDP, the SBTi has also released guidance to support electric utilities in setting science-based targets (SBTs) that meet specific requirements for the sector – covering all electric utilities that generate power.
Two webinars will be hosted in September 2020 to support electric utilities in setting the 1.5°C aligned SBTs and more information and supplementary materials can be found here.
The information is a helpful support to enable the power sector to set more ambitious goals to tackle climate change.
